Through the waves the worst of sails,
Drifts within the ocean wind,
Beneath it the frenzied whoosh of pails,
Bailing water from the ammo bin.

Through the waves a tattered hull,
Scrapes its way along the reef,
In wind and rain no time to mull,
Upon the way it has come to grief.

Through the waves a weary mast,
Dances through a dance of death,
When a sword of light the sky has cast,
Strikes its nest and steals it’s breath.

The bow shudders as metal moans,
And heartwood trembles in its wake,
It bleeds its blood from kegs of beer,
And upon its deck it burns its stake.

Through the winds sails a ship.
A ship of ghosts and raging fools.
A Ship who failed to give the slip,
To Death from Nature and her tools.

Harvest 
There is a hooded figure between the rows,
Strolling by without a care,
His head the vested nest of crows,
Stalk by stalk fall through the air.

Evening falls, He turns away,
From the darkening rows of mortal light,
Stride by stride he makes his way,
To the dwelling where he spends the night.

Behind him stalks begin to slow,
Movement sapping from every limb,
Until they freeze, bent like bows,
And the field’s light starts to dim.

At the portal he pauses thus,
His shadow framed in doorway,
Turns his head to look at us,
And walks in as we turn to gray.

Through final days and favoured signs
All i see upon these lines,
Are deaths in every written way,
through the ages, day by day
I die a thousand different deaths,
Ten thousand gasping final breaths.
So i look upon these cursed lines
Within their papery confines,
And I hate them thus, these torrid signs,
These symbols of the mindless mimes.

An Old poem I wrote, one of my earliest.

*I Stand Alone On This Barren Peak*

I stand alone on this barren peak.
Watching the dust swirl beneath.
The parched earth and broken creeks,
Was this the future I did seek?

As I look back on my early days,
This dead world thus meets my gaze.
The howl of the wind, This lifeless land,
The billion ghosts of these burning sands.

My mind it was so thus made up,
As my finger pressed the button stub.
I wanted to rid this world of us,
And so the moment came to pass.

Somewhere in the depths of space,
Tiny rockets flared to life,
So began the end of all we faced,
The final end of all this strife.

The comets hurtled towards the Earth,
Their unchangeable will brought to bear,
The looming threat of boiling surf,
The death of all that we did care.

Only the best could board the ships,
The cream of the crop, And those in kind.
But what of the billions they had left behind?

The people cowered behind their pride,
Believing the lies of their planets strength,
Thinking that it could surely stand,
Against a foe with such puny rank.

But that we know, was not to be,
Their scientists were never right,
Only later did they see,
That the comets had just too much might.

The people then screamed in pain,
As the hammers smashed into their world,
They cursed me as their eternal bane.
As the fire through their planet whirled.

I danced with glee, for I had wrought,
The final victory, the final thought.
My enemies were down on Earth,
While I was sure of my spaceships worth.

But now then, I cannot say,
That I am happy with my old ways.
For with the death of the planet Earth,
Was born a new thing to curse.

There was no one left for me to hate,
No assassins for me to kill,
Only storms that wont abate,
And glassy plains with brainless krill.

And over the years the loneliness came,
As I walked round this world of mine,
Picking up skulls of nameless foes,
Fishing bones from the poisoned brine.

Eons passed with me standing there,
With an empty feeling in my heart,
The pain of loss too much to bear,
For my love and I were worlds apart.

When the survivors left this horizon bleak,
They had vowed to one day kill the freak.
So now when I see their ships again,
I think about the friends theyve lost,
And the revenge that they would surely seek.

So I stand tall against the wind,
As their ships slowly circle in,
And I welcome them with open arm,
And so this world becomes my cairn.

Three Lines

They march through night,
the close of day
singing songs of light
And clothe the way.

the growing blight

The Castle

I stand upon the castle,

I look upon the moon,

I wait upon a trestle,

Until its about noon.

Standing by the trestle,

Waiting for a ride,

Right upon the castle,

A carriage stops beside.

So you need a lift?

A good question to hear,

The answers was so obvious,

That I gave him some free beer.

So I got into the carriage,

He took me for a ride,

Introduced me to his buddies,

Who held crossbows by the side.

Give me all your money!

But I thought the ride was free?

That’s too bad for you then,

I’m gonna count to three.

So I whipped out my long sword,

And the dagger by my side,

The hammer in my backpack

And a broadsword three feet wide.

They laughed at my weapons

They neglected to attack,

I told them this was special,

There’s a wolf behind your backs.

They guffawed till their sides split,

As the wolf tore them apart,

I shrugged and took their outfits,

I told them they were smart.

I walked along the forest,

I met a merry band.

How do you do?

GTFO our land.

I knew they were nasty,

But I went along my way,

But I was the least surprised,

When I heard the doggies bay.

Turning around what did I see

But a merry band,

Sighing I took out my sword,

And lopped off someone’s hand.

The guy fainted dead away,

The rest ran off somewhere,

I shrugged and took his wallet,

He didn’t seem to care.

Trudging down the forest road,

With my sword beside,

Oh what else do I need,

But a better ride.

Sooner did I voice my thoughts,

Than a horse appeared,

Struggled as it was caught,

And fell as it was speared.

I walked past the hunting men,

Past the bandit camp,

Past the militia hiding in their den

And over their mud ramp.

I walked and walked and walked and walked,

Through many distant plains,

And when years later I cleared the forest…

Oh crap. It’s the castle again.
